Biography

Ruth-Simone Jaques lives nearby Sion in Switzerland. After her schooling she studies commercial secretarial work and all along her professional life works in different offices.
At the beginning of the 80s' she discovers the famous world of quilting. A great passion is born in her, she will never leave it. It becomes a hobby and quickly a second profession; she starts in 1983 to teach quilting in different places in Switzerland.
Throughout these years, she discovers the magic of colours, the illusion of forms and finds it fascinating to play with squares, stripes, diamonds, circles, triangles, curves, appliqués to make them dance in a profusion of harmonious colours. Traditional and contemporary quilts of all dimensions and some garments are created during all those years.
Ruth-Simone exhibits her quilts every year with friends or by herself in Switzerland and abroad: France, Italy, USA (North Carolina, Texas, Michigan) and Canada (Ontario).
With her first students, in 1984, she creates the club "Liberty Star" and, in 1989, with some closer friends, the 12 quilters group Puzzle-Patch is born. The group is meeting every Monday and from 2003 they have the chance and the opportunity to come to quilt and meet all along the week in their workshop.
Wishing to come up to her students' expectations and to satisfy her craving, Ruth-Simone follows various courses in Switzerland, Germany, France and teaching practices several times (1988, 1991, 1992, 1995, 1999, 2002) in the USA with Masters of the quilting kind of Art.

Since 2010, Ruth-Simone works for « Quilt Passion », a French patchwork magazine.  This is sold in some kiosks in Suisse Romande and at « Point Presse » in France.
